Perth Airport, is an international hub and the fourth busiest airport in Australia by passenger movements, serving as the gateway to Western Australia. 

In March 2022, Detail was entrusted with the momentous task of orchestrating the official ‘Welcome Home’ event for Perth Airport’s International Terminal. After hundreds of days of closed borders, the re-opening held huge significance not only for the returning travellers but also for the wider community, including their loved ones and local and national media outlets. 

Detail’s vision for the event was to create a heartfelt and memorable welcome. Travellers were greeted by a stunning large-scale installation of Western Australian native flowers, infusing the arrival hall with natural beauty. To further personalise the welcome, take-home posies of native blooms and customised posters were provided for family members to gift their arriving loved ones. Adding to the emotional atmosphere, the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra performed live, their music resonating with the joy and relief of reunited families. 

The event was a resounding success. Major media outlets attended, capturing the poignant moments of the first arrivals. The event’s highlights were broadcast across all key national and local media platforms in the days following, significantly boosting brand awareness and fostering positive sentiment towards Perth Airport and the long-awaited border reopening. 

Through this thoughtfully crafted event, Detail not only celebrated the return of international travellers but also underscored Perth Airport’s role as a gateway to homecoming and heartfelt reunions, leaving an indelible mark on all who were part of this special moment.
