The Fremantle Biennale is a biennial festival of site-responsive contemporary art. The largely free program provides a platform for artist-led art and ideas. It is recognised for commissioning and presenting innovative and thought-provoking contemporary culture from Australia and the world.

Detail was engaged to support the Fremantle Biennale in both its 2021 and 2023 seasons, providing marketing, public relations and digital services to promote the festival. A key objective of the communications strategy was to expand the festival’s audience by creating awareness beyond repeat visitation and the typical ‘arts crowd’. Detail utilised its extensive network of arts, culture and lifestyle publications and mainstream media personalities to introduce the festival to new audiences and showcase the breadth of world-leading experiential art the festival was bringing to Fremantle. Engaging social media content, targeted influencer engagement, digital advertising, and email marketing amplified the festival experience and reinforced key messages and calls to action.

In its 2023 season, Detail supported the Fremantle Biennale in achieving an estimated event attendance of more than 85,000 people, a lift in ticket sales, significant digital audience growth, high levels of social media engagement, and increased website traffic.
